Are You Burned Out???

Sooo, my question today is, are you burned out on life, your job, or your relationship? Or, are you just burned out? The reason I ask these questions is because burnout causes misery. Burnout is a very stressful state.

How do you know you are burned out? Excellent question! The three elements of burnout are, exhaustion, cynicism, and ineffectiveness.

When we are exhausted, we are physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually exhausted. No matter how much rest we get or caffeine we drink, we are still exhausted.

When we are cynical, we are focusing on all the negative things that are happening and we are very negative in our attitude which includes our thoughts, feelings, and actions.

When we are ineffective, we are ineffective to ourselves, to our family, to our friends, and to our work environment.

If you are displaying any of these signs, chances are high that you are burned out. When we are burned out we must take action or it will get worse.

What should we do when we are burned out? First, we should evaluate the fundamentals of basic stress management. These fundamentals include taking care of ourselves and learning to enjoy life.

Have a great day!!!

LOVE YOUR STRESS!!!

This may sound crazy to some of you but we have to love our stress. Why should we love our stress? Our stress is there for us to learn to be better. Our stress is there for us to learn how to handle things better.

What happens when we love our stress? When we love our stress, as crazy as that sounds, we can move away from wallowing in it. We have a choice, we can love our stress or we can wallow in it.

If we wallow in our stress we think, "Oh, woe is me, poor poor me," or we think, "Oh my gosh, this is so terrible, this is the worst thing that could happen to me."

If we love our stress, we can say, "I love this, that really sounds silly, but at least I am not wallowing in it," or we can say, "I love this because I am gonna focus on what I need to learn, on what I want, and on what will help me focus forward."

Let our stress administer to our education.

When I say, to myself, "I love this stress," I laugh at myself and think, "That is sooo silly." But, guess what? It helps me move in another direction rather than focusing on my stress.

Next time you have a stressful situation, talk to yourself. Tell yourself that you love this, laugh, and then move in another direction. I am not really telling you to love your stress, I am telling you to stop wallowing in it. Clever? Silly?

Just call me cleverly silly.

Until next post, don't forget to have fun and be playful!

Three Things You Can Do To Destress Yourself

Hello my friend!

There is something very important I would like to share with you and that is three things that you can do, right now, to begin your journey to destress yourself.

1. Take Responsibility for your thoughts, feelings, and actions.
2. Have an Open Mind to ways to change your thoughts, feelings, and actions.
3. Make a Commitment to change your thoughts, feelings, and actions.

We can make the decision, right here and right now, to take responsibility for our thoughts, feelings, and actions. We are the only thinker of our thoughts and we often drift through life with our thoughts on autopilot, when we have the ability to choose what we think. When we take responsibility for our thoughts, specific feelings and actions follow.

For example, when we think we are going to the beach we may be excited, we feel good, and we behave as though we are in a good mood. Or, we think we have to clean the house, and what a terrible thing that is, we feel dread, and then we are in a not so good mood.

These two examples are very microscopic when it comes to real stress but, whether our stress is miniature or gigantic, whatever we think does not make a thing true, it just makes it a thought, then a feeling, then an action.

Here is where the, "have an open mind," comes in. When we have a thought, we can change our thoughts to what we want. We can think, cleaning the house is not so bad, and it will make us feel better, after we are done. Sound silly? Maybe it does but, it is how we think of things that causes our reactions, and in turn causes our stress.

It is time to make a commitment! Make a commitment to destress yourself by taking responsibility for your thoughts, feelings, and actions and by having an open mind to changing your thoughts, feelings, and actions.

WE ARE THE ONLY THINKER OF OUR THOUGHTS, WE GET TO CHOOSE OUR THOUGHTS, WE GET TO CHOOSE OUR FEELINGS, AND WE GET TO CHOOSE OUR ACTIONS!

We can be happier, we can make more money, we can have a better relationship, we can loose more weight, we can find a better career, we can get more clients, we can do anything we think we can. So, let's start thinking we can, have an open mind, try new ways of thinking we can, and make a commitment to our life.

This week, let's take responsibility to noticing our thoughts and creating better thoughts. When we do this we will notice how good feelings and actions follow.

Have a great week and don't forget to have fun and be playful.

DESTRESS YOURSELF!!!

Greetings my friend...Happy Monday ;-)

I hope you had a wonderful Weekend.

Today, like every day, I am very grateful, I am especially grateful for all of you on my Newsletter list.

One thing I know for sure is no matter how devastating or how stressful our situation is, we can handle it! It may not seem like it at the time and if we could hold the thought of, "we can handle it," it may make things a little easier.

Many of us have been through the worst of financial, emotional, physical, mental, or even spiritual stress and we survived. Why do we survive? We survive because we have no choice.

The stress comes in when we create the thoughts about our situation. If we have the belief, and attitude, that we will handle it and we can handle it, then the stress lessens.

Guard your thoughts and beliefs in stressful times. Remember that you can handle it and you will lighten your burden. It sounds simple, and it is not easy by any means but, if we put it into practice it will get easier.

I have heard so many people talk about all the stress and hard times that they have been through and yet they survive. Think of all you have been through and notice that you can handle it because you have. You are still here, alive and kicking.

I believe, one of the greatest things about being stressed out, over a situation, is what we can learn. The supreme lesson is that the thoughts of fear and worry about the worst thing that can happen does increase our stress. Therefore, thoughts of faith and confidence that the best outcome will occur does decrease our stress. And, if we take action towards the best possible outcome, our faith and confidence will increase, even more, and our stress will then decrease further, as well.

The goal is to get better and better, at life, as we age, and that includes getting better at managing our stress.

Thank you for all of the emails.

I am so very grateful for you!!!

Have a wonderful week!

Until next week, don't forget to have fun and be playful!

The Illusion of Stress

Recently, this individual came to me because he is having anxiety attacks.  As we were talking, he stated that he does not know why he is having these attacks because he doesn't have any stress.  Come to find out, he rarely sleeps because of a racing mind, and he fills his body with caffeine, which is considered a diuretic and a stimulant.

This is a common scenario in my business; the person has some sort of stress-related illness but does not believe that they have stress.

There is this illusion about stress and it is that we have to be experiencing something very severe in our lives to be suffering from stress.

Some people do not believe that they have stress because they are not going through some sort of crisis.

Stress is not always a crisis.

Some examples of everyday and non-critical stress are physical stress, mental stress, and emotional stress.

Physical stress is the strain on your body.  If you are not getting enough sleep or if you are eating unhealthy, you are causing physical strain on your body, which weakens the immune system.  When we eat unhealthy, we do not get the proper nutrients to sustain energy, and our body has to work overtime to digest unhealthy foods, which causes stress on our bodies.  When our immune system is weakened due to stress it's receptive to illnesses.  This is one reason why most studies show that stress is the number one cause of all illnesses.

Mental stress is a strain on the mind.  If you have a busy schedule with family or work, your brain can be working overtime, and this causes a racing mind.  A racing mind causes distraction and a lack of focus.  Many individuals who have a racing mind cannot concentrate or have the ability to remember.

Finally, emotional stress is a strain on your emotions.  If you have frequent negative emotions like anger, irritability, sadness, anxiety, or frustration you are experiencing nervous tension.  Nervous tension is similar to the fight or flight response in that your physiological functions shift.  If you experience these shifts, which include increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, and a shift in how your blood flows in your body, you are causing undue pressure.

So often, I meet with individuals who are having stress-related illnesses, and they swear that they do not have any stress in their lives.  After talking to them about what stress is, they discover that they do, in fact, have stress.

The reason I am telling you this is because we can eliminate the majority of illnesses just by managing our stress.  Better yet, we can eliminate physical, mental, and emotional illnesses just by destressing our lives.

The best way to destress yourself is by taking care of yourself physically, mentally, and emotionally by discovering your unhealthy habits and changing them into successful practices.

When we take care of ourselves, we create happiness, energy, and vitality, which is destressing ourselves.

Set some goals to decrease your stress by changing your habits and making it a lifestyle.  If you do this, I promise you that your happiness, energy, and vitality will increase by leaps and bounds.

Have a great day, and until the next post, don't forget to have fun and be playful.

Destress Yourself By Focusing On Solutions

Hello, and welcome to my destress yourself blog!

One of the reasons we become so stressed and overwhelmed is because we are worried about a particular problem or situation, we become obsessed about it, and we are unable to think of anything else.

There are many reasons why we do this but, instead of thinking why, we must evolve our way of thinking and become solution focused. In order to become solution focused, we must figure out the best solution and make it a goal.

When we figure out a solution and create a goal we can replace our incessant worry with solution focused behavior.

Here are three easy steps to creating a goal.

1. Decide on a solution to your problem, in other words, figure out a solution to your stress.

2. Write the solution down as a goal.

3. Focus on this goal diligently and effortlessly by replacing your obsession of worry with an obsession for this goal.

One of the greatest things that we can do for ourselves, when we become overwhelmed and stressed out, is we can focus on our goals. By focusing on our goals we create a habit of solution focus thinking rather than our focus on worry. And this, my friend, is truly destressing yourself.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to figure out solutions to your problems and turn them into goals.

If you would like to learn more about solution focused thinking and setting goals, check out our FREE Tele Classes this month on meditation, affirmations, and visualization, these habits will help you accomplish any goal you set your mind to with comfort and ease.  Also, you can purchase the 'How to Destress Yourself' downloadable audio. This program will show you a step by step process on how to destress yourself.

Have a great week and don't forget to have fun and be playful.

Until next post...
