The other day, I was talking to a person who lost her son earlier this year. She said to me, "Anything else that happens to me is nothing. I know that I can handle anything that comes my way because loosing my son was the worst and I survived." In other words, she handled it, now she knows she can handle it, and any other challenges she faces, she is aware that she will handle it.
One of the reasons we become so stressed and overwhelmed when something happens to us is, we believe that we are not going to deal with the particular situation or we think we are not going to be okay. Our own history tells us that this is not true. If we look back at all the difficulties that we have been through, we can see that we survived.
One of the greatest things that we can do for ourselves, when we become overwhelmed and stressed out, is we can convince ourselves that everything is going to be all right, in the end, because it always is.
Another excellent thing that we can do for ourselves is learn the habit of calm and confidence. We can be calm and confident every time we have a stressful situation by knowing that everything is going to be fine. The ability to do this is a very successful practice that can eliminate the stressful habit of panic.
I can hear you now, "easier said than done, Elizabeth." This may be true but, with practice makes perfection.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to persuade yourself that everything is going to be all right, and develop a habit of calm and confidence, when you are faced with adversity.
Until next post, don't forget to have fun and be playful.
Please email me if you have any questions, I would love to hear from you.
